About our masonry contractor company in Torrance

A curved driveway combines dark asphalt with a broad light-gray paver walkway and border beside a brick house.

From the supply yard to your wall

I started out at a masonry supply yard selling brick, block and stone, and I spent years hearing how the jobs went after the trucks left. Some went fine. Others came back as stories about mortar that outlasted the brick it was supposed to hold, which is a neat trick nobody asked for. Eventually I went out and learned to lay it myself, and in 2013 I started this business in Torrance.

We're best known for brick repair, chimneys and worn mortar joints, plus block and retaining walls, and most of our calls come from Torrance and the cities around it. Torrance has expansive soil, the kind that swells when it's wet and shrinks as it dries, so a lot of what looks like a brick problem starts lower down. I care that a repair matches the wall it's going into, because mortar that's too hard or a wall built bigger than it needs to be causes its own trouble later. I'd like the next mason who sees our work to have nothing to complain about. You can see everything we do from our home page.

What working with us is like

  • You talk to the owner from the first visit

I come out to look at the job myself, and you get a straight answer on what your masonry needs now and what can wait. Our own crew does the work, with a lead mason running the site and me stopping by to check on it.

  • A quote for the job your wall needs

I sold masonry before I laid it, so I quote the work your wall needs, not the biggest job I could sell you. Your estimate comes in writing with the scope spelled out, so you know what you're paying for.

  • We check drainage and footings first

We look at where the water goes and at the footings, the concrete base under a wall, before we touch the brick or stone, because that's usually where the trouble starts. If you'd like us to take a look, call (424) 318-3093 or use our contact page to set up a visit.

Licenses and the rules behind them

Serving Torrance and 11 surrounding cities

  • California contractor license

Licensed and insured. California's Contractors State License Board licenses anyone who builds or alters a structure, and the board says that applies when the job needs a building permit, uses any extra workers or comes to $1,000 or more in labor and materials, and a bigger job can't be split into smaller contracts to stay under that line.

  • Torrance business license and permits

The City of Torrance requires a business license from any company located in the city or working there, so it covers any contractor who comes to work on your house here. Permits go through the city's Building and Safety Division, and if your job needs one, we handle the application with the city or county office that covers your address and tell you what we learn before any work starts.
