Agreeing to these terms
These terms cover your use of this website and any estimate, scheduling or work you arrange with AJ Torrance Concrete and Masonry, a masonry contractor in Torrance, CA. When you browse the site, call us, send the form or accept an estimate, you're agreeing to these terms, so please read them before you do.
If you don't agree with them, please don't use the site or book work through it. You can always reach us on the contact page and ask about anything here before you decide.
What we do
AJ Torrance Concrete and Masonry does concrete and masonry work for homes in Torrance and the cities around it. That includes brick, block and stone work, chimneys and fireplaces, retaining walls, foundations, pavers, walkways and outdoor kitchens. You can see the full list on our home page, and you can read more about who we are on our about page.
What's on this site is general information about the work. It isn't a quote and it isn't advice for your particular house. We only know what your job needs once we've seen it in person.
How estimates and pricing work
Estimates are free, we give them at your property, and asking for one doesn't commit you to anything. An estimate is based on what we can see and measure that day, along with the materials and scope you choose.
The final price can change if the job turns out to be different once it's open. Hidden damage, poor soil, old repairs that have to come out or changes you ask for partway through are the usual reasons. When that happens, we'll stop and explain the change and the new cost before we do the extra work, and we won't go ahead without your OK.
An estimate holds for the period written on it. After that, material costs and our schedule may have moved, so we may need to update it.
Scheduling, weather and cancellation
We set a start date with you once you accept the estimate. Masonry and concrete depend on the weather and on curing time, so rain, heat, material delays or a permit that takes longer than expected can push a date back. When that happens, we'll tell you as early as we can and set a new date with you.
If you need to reschedule or cancel, please call us at (424) 318-3093 as soon as you know. If materials have already been ordered or custom-cut for your job, or work has already started, you may owe for those materials and for the work done up to that point. Any rights California law gives you to cancel a home improvement contract still apply, and these terms don't take them away.
Payment
The payment schedule, the deposit and the accepted payment methods are written in your estimate or contract, and that document controls. Payment is due on the dates it sets.
If a payment is late, we may pause the work until it's settled. If a balance stays unpaid, we may use the collection options California law allows, including those available to contractors who have improved a property.
Our work and warranty disclaimers
We're licensed and insured, and we stand behind our work. If something we built isn't right, call us and we'll come look at it. Any written warranty for your job is the one on your contract, and it covers only what it says.
Brick, stone, mortar and concrete are natural materials. Small differences in color and texture, hairline cracks from normal shrinkage and some efflorescence, the white powdery residue that can show up on masonry, are normal and aren't defects. We also can't answer for damage caused by ground movement, earthquakes, roots, drainage problems we didn't build, misuse, or later changes made by someone else.
Outside of a written warranty and the protections California law requires, our work and this website are provided as they are, without any other promises, express or implied. Materials from a manufacturer carry that manufacturer's own warranty, and we'll pass along what we receive.
Limits on our liability
As far as the law allows, AJ Torrance Concrete and Masonry isn't responsible for indirect or follow-on losses, such as lost rent, lost use of the property or the cost of staying somewhere else. Our total responsibility for any claim tied to a job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job.
We're also not responsible for decisions you make based only on the general information on this website. Some of these limits may not apply where the law doesn't allow them, and nothing here limits responsibility the law says can't be limited.
Using this website
You may use this site to learn about our work and to contact us. Please don't copy its text or photos for commercial use, interfere with how it runs or send anything harmful through the contact form.
The site may link to outside websites, like a city office or a product maker. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for what's on them.
If we disagree about something
Most problems get sorted out with a phone call and a visit, so please come to us first. Call (424) 318-3093 or use the contact page, tell us what's wrong, and we'll work with you in good faith to fix it.
If we still can't settle it, either of us may take it to small claims court if it qualifies, or to the state or federal courts serving Los Angeles County, California. Each side covers its own costs unless a court or the law says otherwise.
Which law applies
These terms, and any work we do for you, are governed by the laws of the State of California. If a court finds part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still stands.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, and the version posted here is the one in effect. Changes don't affect a contract you've already signed, because that contract keeps the terms you agreed to when you signed it.
Questions about these terms
If anything here is unclear, ask us before you book. You can call (424) 318-3093 Monday through Friday from 6 AM to 9 PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 7 AM to 9 PM, or send a message from our contact page. We reply within 1 business day.
